Ingredients:
- 80 g (⅓ cup) butter.
- 100 g (¾ cup) flour.
- 500 ml (2 cups) of milk.
- salt and pepper to taste.
- ½ teaspoon of nutmeg.
- 50 g (½ cup) of cheese.
- 100 g (⅔ cup) diced ham.
- wash eggs, flour and breadcrumbs to thicken.
Method
Melt the butter and cook the flour in it until the butter is completely absorbed.
Start pouring milk in batches, constantly stirring, removing lumps.
Season with nutmeg, salt and pepper.
Cook 3 to 5 minutes until thickened. Add the ham and cheese, then pour the milk mixture into a small box, cover with plastic and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Cut into 10-12 pieces, dust with flour, dip each piece in the egg bath and cover with breadcrumbs, making sure to cover any spots where the milk mixture may leak.
Heat the vegetable oil to 180C/350F and cook the milk cubes for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Pat dry with paper towel and serve.
