WHAT DO THE COLORED TAGS ON BREAD MEAN?

The plastic tags or metal ties that are piling up in your junk drawer tell you which day of the week bread was baked on.

  • Monday – Blue
  • Tuesday – Green
  • Thursday – Red
  • Friday– White
  • Saturday – Yellow.

I didn’t skip Wednesday and Sunday. Most companies have a 5 day delivery schedule.

The reason behind the color coding is to make it easier for employees to remove stale loaves from the shelves and replace them with fresh ones.

I wanted an easy way to remember the code and then I realized that the colors go in alphabetical order starting with BLUE for Monday.

Keep in mind that some companies might have their own system, so check the expiration date when in doubt.

So there you have it, one more mystery of life solved, and hopefully, it will come in handy the next time you’re looking for that perfect loaf of bread.
