Beer Can Burger Recipe

This recipe can be easily customized with other filling options like mushrooms and peppers, eggs, and more!

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 Bacon Slices
  • 1/2 lb Cheddar jack, cubed
  • 1 Jalapeno Pepper, minced
  • 1 White Onion, caramelized
  • Beer, Can
  • 2 1/2 lbs Ground Beef
  • TT Pit Boss Kansas City BBQ Rub

SPECIAL TOOLS

  • Aluminum Foil
  • Cast Iron Skillet
  • Foil Pan
  • Mixing Bowl

DIRECTIONS

Fire up your Pit Boss Platinum Series KC Combo and preheat to 300°F. If using a gas or charcoal grill, set it up for medium-low heat.

Place ground beef in a mixing bowl, season with Kansas City Barbecue Rub, then mix by hand. Form 4, 10 ounce balls, then use a can (any 12 ounce aluminum can will work), and press the can down the center of each ball, creating a small beef bowl. Press along the sides and roll to create a beef bowl, approximately 3 ½ inches tall.

Wrap beef with 2 pieces of bacon, then fill with cheese, caramelized onion, and minced jalapeño. Set filled burgers in a large cast iron skillet, then transfer to the grill. Cook for 25 minutes in the skillet, then transfer burgers to the top rack. Increase the temperature to 325°F, and cook an additional 25 to 30 minutes, rotating halfway.

Remove from the grill, top with extra jalapeño, rest for 5 minutes, then serve warm.
