Fried catfish is a Southern tradition, along with buttermilk pups and buttermilk coleslaw. Try these traditional foods together.
Ingredients :
- Half a cup of milk
- Half a cup of water
- Salt / pepper
- 1 pound catfish fillets, sliced
- 1 cup fine cornmeal
- Allpurpose flour cup
- 1 tsp seafood season, ((such as Old Bay™️))
- 1 L vegetable oil For fry
Directions :
Step 1
In a small bowl, mix the milk, water, salt and pepper. Pour the mixture into a flat pan large enough to accommodate the fillets. Lay the fish out in a single layer over the bottom of the pan, turning each side to coat and set aside to marinate.
Step 2
In a 2-gallon resealable plastic bag, combine cornmeal, flour, and seafood seasoning. Add the fish to the mixture, a few fillets at a time, and mix gently until evenly coated.
Step 3
Heat oil in deep fryer to 365°F (185°C).
Step 4
Fry the fillets until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Avoid crowding so the fillets have room to brown properly. The fish should be slightly crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Lay out paper towels.
Enjoy !
