Easy homemade lilac lemonade recipe with fresh lilacs
INGREDIENTS
- Lemons (7-10) Enough to 1 ½ cups of juice plus enough for garnish and slices
- 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
- 8 1/2 cups of water
- Ice
- 2-3 heads of fresh lilac blossoms
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut your lemons in half and juice them with a citrus juicer. (you will need to have 1 ½ cups of lemon juice)
Remove the seeds and pulp from your juice with a fine-mesh sieve. Refrigerate.
Soak your fresh Lilac sprigs in cold water for a minimum of 2 hours to overnight.
Create your syrup, in a saucepan add 1 cup of water to 1 ½ cups of sugar, heat to a simmer stirring consistently until the sugar is well incorporated. Remove from the heat and refrigerate.
Slice a lemon into medallions and add it to your pitcher.
Add your lilac, lemon juice, syrup, and 7 cups of water and stir.
NOTES
If you don’t have fresh lemons, you can use lemon juice. One lemon equals about 3 tablespoons of bottled lemon juice. Adjust accordingly.
