In the Notes I have the slow cooker instructions in case that works better for you.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 lbs. ground beef \u2013 85\/15<\/p>\n<p>1 yellow onion \u2013 diced<\/p>\n<p>2 stalks celery \u2013 chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 green bell pepper \u2013 chopped<\/p>\n<p>29 oz. canned tomato sauce<\/p>\n<p>29 oz. canned kidney beans \u2013 not drained<\/p>\n<p>29 oz. canned pinto beans \u2013 not drained<\/p>\n<p>28 oz. canned tomatoes \u2013 chopped and not drained<\/p>\n<p>1 diced jalape\u00f1o \u2013 de-seeded and de-veined<\/p>\n<p>1 Tbsp. cumin powder<\/p>\n<p>\u00bc cup chili powder<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp. black pepper<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp. salt<\/p>\n<p>1 cup water or tomato juice<\/p>\n<p>1 Tbsp. butter<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a heavy bottomed stockpot brown the ground beef, breaking it up into small pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Drain the fat.<\/p>\n<p>Add the rest of the ingredients \u2013 except the butter \u2013 and bring to a boil.<\/p>\n<p>Lower heat and bring to a simmer and cook uncovered \u2013 make sure to keep at a simmer level \u2013 for 2 hours stirring occasionally.<\/p>\n<p>Add in the butter and stir until fully melted and incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>Serve.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notes<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0<strong>Slow Cooker:<\/strong>\u00a0This is perfect, and you don\u2019t have to keep a watchful eye! Just brown the ground beef, drain, then combine the rest of the ingredients (except butter) in a slow cooker. Cook on low for about 4 hours. Stir in the butter and it is ready to serve!<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<strong>Toppings:<\/strong>\u00a0These are fun, and everyone can tailor their bowl how they like. Fritos, shredded cheese, sour cream, black olives, extra jalape\u00f1o, diced red onion\u2026 anything your family loves.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<strong>Vegetarian:<\/strong>\u00a0Substitute vegetarian crumbles for the ground beef and it is still delicious!<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<strong>Beans:<\/strong>\u00a0Sometimes I use pinto beans with jalape\u00f1os instead of plain pinto beans. Also, if you don\u2019t have the specific beans on hand, you can substitute the beans. I have used Great Northern beans and they were great.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 You can substitute a small can of green chilis in place of jalape\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Make sure you keep it on low and barely a simmer. Stir occasionally to make sure the chili doesn\u2019t stick to the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0<strong>Storing:<\/strong>\u00a0Cool leftover chili and put in an airtight container.
