Instead of using jar of dried beef I just use 8oz. thin slices of beef lunchmeat \u201cBudding\u201d and it a lot cheaper!! Not salty at all and you don\u2019t even have to rinse!!<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\">\n<p>Comfort Food! Once I got the roux down (it took 2 tries), it was fantastic. I added the ceyenne pepper, seasoned salt and cracked black pepper. We used the Budding Luncheon Meat. Served it on toasted potato bread buns.<\/p>\n<p>This recipe is G-R-E-A-T!!! If yours turned out too salty you probably used the jarred dried beef and should have RINSED it first. We used fresh dried beef from our local locker.<\/p>\n<p>My mom used to make this recipe. It can also be made with 3\/4 pound browned, drained hamburger. We called it SOS: Same Ole Stuff. Great comfort food! Either recipe is easy to make and tastes great with a cold beer. Serve over toast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">2 tablespoons butter<br \/>\n2 tablespoons all-purpose flour<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cups warm milk<br \/>\n1 (8 ounce) jar dried beef<br \/>\n1 pinch cayenne pepper<strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour all at once to form a roux. Whisk in milk, a little at a time, increase heat to medium-high, and cook, stirring, until thickened.
