{"id":26536,"date":"2022-09-05T20:52:32","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T20:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mrhealthyalternative.com\/?p=26536"},"modified":"2022-09-05T20:52:46","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T20:52:46","slug":"chicken-adobo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrhealthyalternative.com\/?p=26536","title":{"rendered":"Chicken Adobo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"63d509947b33dea96ed9a09b2482b63d\" data-index=\"1\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1554417\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<p>Chicken Adobo<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t50\/1\/16\/1f525.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd25\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t50\/1\/16\/1f525.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udd25\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGRE<em>DIENTS:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 bay leaves<\/li>\n<li>4\u00a0tsp whole black peppercorns<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp neutral oil<\/li>\n<li>1.5 lbs bone-in\/skin-on chicken thighs and<\/li>\n<li>1.5lbs skin-on chicken wings\/drumettes<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup apple cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup shoyu (soy sauce)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup lager beer<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>5 garlic cloves, peeled and smashed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>METHOD:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Place a dutch oven over med heat and toast the bay leaves and peppercorns until fragrant and the bay leaves have a nice sheen(3-4min).<\/p>\n<p>Remove spices and crush 3\/4 of the peppercorns with a mortar and pestle.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the oil in the dutch oven and brown chicken in batches, skin side down, until golden brown and fat has rendered (6-8min).<\/p>\n<p>Wiggle chicken from time to time to make sure the skin doesn\u2019t stick. Place all the chicken on a plate as you work the batches. Once done, pour out all but 1 tbsp of oil.<\/p>\n<p>Return the pot to the stovetop over low heat and pour in the vinegar, shoyu, beer, brown sugar, garlic, bay leaves, and peppercorns. Stir and cook for 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Add the chicken and any juices and move heat to med-high, to bring to a low boil. Lower the heat to med-low, cover and cook for 45min, flipping the chicken halfway through.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the lid and simmer for 15min.
