{"id":24120,"date":"2022-01-23T20:24:15","date_gmt":"2022-01-23T20:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mrhealthyalternative.com\/?p=24120"},"modified":"2022-01-23T20:24:15","modified_gmt":"2022-01-23T20:24:15","slug":"sticky-toffee-pudding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrhealthyalternative.com\/?p=24120","title":{"rendered":"Sticky Toffee Pudding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"63d509947b33dea96ed9a09b2482b63d\" data-index=\"1\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<div data-type=\"_mgwidget\" data-widget-id=\"1554417\">\r\n<\/div>\r\n<script>(function(w,q){w[q]=w[q]||[];w[q].push([\"_mgc.load\"])})(window,\"_mgq\");\r\n<\/script>\r\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">Sticky Toffee Pudding<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">For the Toffee Sauce:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">2 cups (480 ml) heavy cream<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\u00bd cup (99 g) dark brown sugar<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">2\u00bd tablespoons (2.5 tablespoons) golden syrup, or molasses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Pinch salt<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>For the Pudding:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"auto\">6 ounces (170 g) pitted dates, chopped<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">1 cup (240 ml) water<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">1 teaspoon baking soda<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">1\u00bc cups (150 g) all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">1 teaspoon baking powder<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\u00bd teaspoon (0.5 teaspoon) fine sea salt<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">4 tablespoons unsalted butter<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">\u00be cup (149 g) granulated sugar<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">2 eggs, at room temperature<\/li>\n<li dir=\"auto\">1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and butter an 8\u00bd-inch porcelain souffl\u00e9 dish (or similar-sized baking dish).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Make the toffee sauce by bringing the cream, dark brown sugar, golden syrup (or molasses) and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan, stirring often to melt the sugar.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Lower heat and simmer, stirring constantly for about 5 minutes, until the mixture is thick and coats the spoon. Pour half the sauce into the prepared souffl\u00e9 dish and place the dish in the freezer, and reserve the other half for serving.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">To make the pudding, in a medium saucepan, heat the dates and water. Once the water begins to boil, remove from heat and stir in the baking soda. Set aside, but keep it slightly warm.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In the bowl of a standing electric mixer, or by hand, beat the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the eggs, then the vanilla. (Don\u2019t be alarmed if the mixture looks a bit curdled.)<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Stir in half of the flour mixture, then the date mixture, then add the remaining flour mixture until just mixed. Don\u2019t overbeat the batter.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Remove the souffl\u00e9 dish from the freezer and scrape the batter into the souffl\u00e9 dish and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">Remove the pudding from the oven, and let cool slightly before serving. Spoon portions of the cake into serving bowls and douse with additional warm toffee sauce.
