Once boiling,<br \/>\nremove the saucepan from heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Let it cool for a minute or two and then add the 2 cups of<br \/>\nsugar and the 2 teaspoons of vanilla. Stir and set aside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix the 2 cups of flour, salt,<br \/>\nand baking soda.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<\/strong> Add the dry ingredients to those in the saucepan and stir<br \/>\nwell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong> Add the 1\/2 cup sour cream and the 2 beaten eggs. Stir<br \/>\nuntil all lumps are gone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> Pour into the greased pan and spread the batter evenly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong> Bake for 20 minutes. The sides of the cake should begin<br \/>\nto pull away from the edge of the pan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11.<\/strong> Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the<br \/>\ncenter of the cake. If it comes out clean, it is done, but if<br \/>\nthere is any wet batter, bake for a few more minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12.<\/strong> Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 15<br \/>\nminutes before covering it with the glaze.
